“What do you feel when you see your little one walk into a classroom?”
This is the question we asked the parents of our lil’ B. toys fans as they prep for the back-to-school period. Whether they’re thinking ahead, sending their kiddos off to school for the first time, or going through a repeat experience, a moment such as this one comes with a sprinkle of bittersweetness, a dash of worry, and a whole lot of excitement.
Here’s what they had to say about this educational milestone:
I’ve been a stay-at-home mom for 3 years with our daughter, Layla. We’ve spent countless hours playing, learning and laughing at home! I just recently went back to work and it’s been challenging letting go of what used to be… Long days of cuddles, playtime and lots of snacks! Our daily routine has changed dramatically, but she’s done fantastic and I’m just so proud. Next year, she’ll be off to preschool and thinking about it tugs at my heart – but I know she will be ready for every new challenge she’ll face. She’s determined and strong and I’m excited to see where life will take her! Melanie, @perfectlypinkplayhouse
Sending my little ones off to school is always a little bittersweet. I am so sad to see them leave me for the day, but so excited for all the new friends they will meet. And I can’t wait for them to learn new things! I see the excitement on their faces each day when they get dropped off, and when I pick them up from school, they can hardly wait to tell me about their day! It brings me so much joy to see them love school. Caitlin, @caitlinholli
At first, I had a lot of anxiety. However, that quickly passed once I saw how much my kiddo enjoyed his time at school with his new friends! Laura, @blondebellebabyshell
I know it’s going to be tough, for them and for me, but going to school is a really big step in a child’s life and I’m excited for all those moments with my triplets. Lauren, @persichetti.triplets
My baby is just 2 years old, so I haven’t experienced her going to school! But when she goes to daycare, she learns to strengthen her social and emotional development. She learns how to compromise, be respectful and problem solve. Her daycare provides an environment to explore, gain a sense of self, play with peers and build self-confidence. I do feel emotional but it’s for her best. 😊 Monica, @princess.eva_
I feel like when it’s time for my kids to start preschool, I will have all kinds of emotions! I will be extremely excited and proud to see them learn new things. But I’ll also feel sad. Sad to see them growing up so quickly and to see how fast time truly does go by! Shelbi, @_shelbijo_
It was such a bittersweet moment, my daughter not being a baby anymore and becoming an independent little person. I’m scared that she would be terrified in a new environment, but excited to watch her grow into it. First day of school was a priceless memory filled with emotion! Chasity, @zireignworld
Azaria is on her way to kindergarten! We feel a bit worried due to the pandemic, but we are super excited as well for her to finally be in a physical school with her teacher and friends. Jewerly, @bigsisterazaria
My girl is about to go to kindergarten for the first time in September! I am so excited for her, but also so nervous. It’s going to be a big change from her small Montessori school. There are going to be so many changes and challenges that I won’t be there to help her with, but I am also confident in her abilities to overcome them. She is such a curious little girl and I know she’s going to love it! Brinda, @theshaleenadiaries
